Interview with John Lescroart on his novel "Damages"

I had the pleasure of interviewing John Lescroart (pronounced less-kwah) on Friday. We discussed DAMAGE, his new book published by Dutton.  (Kindle edition)

DAMAGE features Abe Glitsky, a familar character to Lescroart's fans. The story takes place in San Francisco and is a fast-paced thriller filled with well developed characters. Dismas Hardy, Lescroart's most famous series character, and Glitsky's best friend, makes an appearance in the novel as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Mr. Lescroart was a professional musician until the age of 30, when he became a full-time writer. I think you will enjoy the discussion we had on the relationship between music and writing (pace, tempo, rythym). He gives listeners great insight into the world of publishing and the tenacity it takes to become a published writer. He also offers excellent insight into why he chose to set his novels in San Francisco.

If you enjoy Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, and David Baldacci I think you will enjoy Lescroart's work. He has written 13 best sellers in a row, so if you have not read his work you are in for a treat. I discovered Mr. Lescroart in the late 1990's and have been a fan ever since. Dismas, Abe, and the other characters feel like old friends now.

This is the first time I have interviewed him and the interview went so well he has agreed to be a member of my 'posse' of regular guests. My personal favorite is THE 13th JUROR, published in 2005. That's a good place to start after you read DAMAGE. Enjoy the interview!

  1. Great interview! I read DAMAGE today before I listened to this interview. Thrilled to see Abe Glitsky shifted to the protagonist. He makes a strong main character.

  2. Hey, Kacey! I turned on the NFL game this afternoon only to find your favorite team (that you love to hate) is playing. This made me look to see if I had an email address to try to contact you, and I do not. I thought maybe I could reach you through you interview website. If you see this and would want to send each other an occasional message now and then, email me at the address below.
